Job overview Full time 8A Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Senior Psychological Therapist in Norwich City adult Community Mental Health Team. (Central Norfolk Locality) We’re looking to recruit a clinical/counselling psychologist or senior psychological therapist. The role involves providing a broad range of psychological services based in our Norwich city community mental health teams, as part of a growing psychology and therapy team and under the supervision of experienced colleagues. Main duties of the job The main duties of the job are to provide consultation, formulation, assessment and psychological intervention to service users and carers within a CMHT context. You will provide evidence-based individual and group interventions and help provide our workshop programme. You’ll also help the broader team deliver psychologically informed interventions and provide training to support this. There’ll be opportunities to take part in quality improvement projects as part of a supportive and dynamic psychology team. Working for our organisation We work within a large CMHT covering the Norwich area, all based at City Anchorage at the Julian Hospital. There is a positive culture around formulation led and trauma-informed care and we provide a broad range of NICE-endorsed therapeutic approaches, including a full DBT programme. We are pro-active in developing staff around our identified service needs, supported by further training and project work. Psychology Services within the Trust have strong links with partners including UEA, and NSFTs Recovery College, in which they play an active role. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder will provide psychological consultation, formulation, assessment and intervention under the supervision of an 8b Clinical Psychologist. They will develop and deliver training on psychological topics for the CMHTs and psychoeducational materials for our service users and carers. They’ll be expected to attend relevant weekly team meetings and psychology meetings. Further training opportunities will be encouraged to develop a therapeutic model or specialism to augment provision of evidence-based therapies. Person specification Qualifications * Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology or counselling, accredited by BPS * Registered as a practitioner psychologist or other appropriate profession with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) * Ongoing further specialist training/accredited short courses * Supervisor training, to be a supervisor of doctoral programme clinical/counselling psychology trainees or willing to undertake training * Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice * Theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions (assessment and / or therapist) Experience * Experience working as a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist or psychological therapist (Band 7) and supervising trainee clinical psychologists or psychological therapists * Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems, in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems * Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment. * Experience of supervision and teaching. * Experience of representing psychological therapies within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts). * Experience of clinical work in a setting relevant to the post Skills * Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. * Well -developed communications skills (oral and written) * Skills in neuropsychological assessment. Knowledge * Doctor level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis * Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical context. * Evidence of CPD as recommended by BPS * Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical settings and service user group Other * Ability to travel independently * Able to identify, provide and promote appropriate support strategies to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours. * Able to use multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings. * Experience of working within a multicultural framework. * Experience of providing specific support intervention and strategy for staff.
