Job description

Employment Type:Full time Location:Hybrid Belfast, UK Office & Home working within the area of responsibility Salary:£33,360 (GBP) Seniority:Mid-level Closing: 11:59pm, 16th Aug 2026 BST Job Description About the role SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is looking for an experienced and motivated Regional Branch and Casework Manager to lead the delivery of welfare and casework services across Northern Ireland. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to serving personnel, veterans and their families while supporting a dedicated network of volunteers and colleagues. Reporting within our regional structure, you will provide leadership, guidance and oversight to volunteers and employees involved in casework delivery, ensuring beneficiaries receive a high-quality, safe and consistent service. You will play an important role in safeguarding assurance, governance, volunteer engagement and operational effectiveness across the region. Working closely with branch volunteers, regional colleagues and external partners, including the Northern Ireland Veterans Commissioners Office and the wider veterans community, you will help strengthen relationships, support local service delivery and represent SSAFA at meetings and events throughout Northern Ireland. You will also support the SSAFA NI President, Branch Chair and Executive Committee in delivering their objectives and maintaining effective governance. This is a varied role that combines people leadership, stakeholder engagement, service improvement and operational management. It offers the opportunity to influence how support is delivered locally while contributing to the wider aims of a respected national charity. About the team You will join a supportive and collaborative regional team dedicated to helping serving personnel, veterans and their families access the support they need. Working closely with branch volunteers, regional colleagues and specialist teams across SSAFA, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, consistent service delivery throughout Northern Ireland. The team works in partnership with volunteers, community organisations and statutory agencies to deliver effective welfare support, share expertise and respond to the evolving needs of the Armed Forces community. Together, we are committed to providing a professional, compassionate service while fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement. About you We are looking for a confident and inclusive leader who enjoys working with people and building strong relationships. You will have experience of managing teams, volunteers or services within a welfare, charity, community, public sector or similar environment, together with the ability to make sound decisions and balance competing priorities. You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach. Experience of safeguarding, quality assurance or governance processes would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the Armed Forces community, although we welcome applicants with transferable experience from other sectors who share our commitment to supporting those in need. About SSAFA SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of support for the Armed Forces community in their time of need. In 2024 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 53,000 people, including veterans, serving personnel (regulars and reserves) and their families. SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.. Diversity and Inclusion at SSAFA SSAFA exists to support a diverse range of beneficiaries within the armed forces community, and we believe diversity within our teams is key to ensuring we can deliver our services effectively. We thrive on differences and believe it is critical to our success as a worldwide charity. SSAFA is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace that seeks to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We therefore encourage applications from all genders, races, religions, ages and sexual orientations, as well as parents, veterans, people living with disabilities, and any other groups that could bring diverse perspectives to our business. SSAFA is committed to using the Disclosure & Barring Service to ensure we, as an employer, safeguard those we serve.
