Job description
Domestic Abuse Support Worker

A rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and experienced frontline support professional to help victims and survivors of domestic abuse rebuild safety, stability and independence within safe accommodation.

This role is known internally as a Domestic Abuse Intervention Support Worker

SALARY: £24,784 to £25,484 per annum FTE (£14,870 to £15,290 Actual) + Benefits

LOCATION: Sandwell, West Midlands - You will be located and visible at a residential site supporting clients living within refuge accommodation. This position is NOT eligible for Hybrid working.

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 22.5 hours Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm (hours/days negotiable)

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support to victims and survivors living in temporary safe accommodation.

As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will manage a caseload, complete risk and needs assessments, develop support plans, monitor outcomes and review cases in line with agreed procedures.

Working as the Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will provide person-centred one-to-one and group support, promote safety and independence, contribute to multi-agency working and help ensure clients’ voices remain central to support planning.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Domestic Abuse Support Worker include:

• Case Management: Manage a caseload of clients, delivering assessments, support planning, outcomes monitoring and case reviews

• Risk and Needs Assessment: Carry out comprehensive risk and needs assessments and develop risk management plans that reduce harm and meet client needs

• Trauma-Informed Support: Provide assertive, person-centred support that recognises individual experiences, strengths, choices and pace of recovery

• One-to-One and Group Work: Deliver evidence-based interventions in individual and group settings to support safety, resilience and confidence

• Multi-Agency Working: Work with partner agencies, contribute to MARAC processes and support coordinated, holistic responses to client needs

• Housing Support: Support clients with licence agreements, house rules, occupancy responsibilities, welfare payments, rent arrears and move-on planning

• Accommodation Standards: Help ensure accommodation is safe, well managed, secure and maintained to a high standard

• Safeguarding and Compliance: Work in line with safeguarding procedures, confidentiality, GDPR, organisational policies and relevant housing responsibilities

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring and reporting information for the service

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The post holder must be female

• Previous experience working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse in one-to-one and group work settings

• Experience of case management, risk and needs assessments, support planning and outcomes monitoring

• Able to deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support that promotes safety, independence and informed choice

• Good understanding of safeguarding adults, children and young people

• Able to work effectively with partner agencies and contribute to coordinated multi-agency support

• Strong communication, engagement and record-keeping skills

• Able to work within policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements and GDPR principles

• Full driving licence with willingness to use own vehicle

• Eligibility to work in the UK
