Job description
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with young people before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Teaching, or Mental Health? We are recruiting Psychology Graduates to work as Teaching Assistants within specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools. These settings support young people who may have experienced trauma, anxiety, attachment difficulties, behavioural challenges, or other barriers to learning. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting while making a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage with learning, regulate their emotions, develop positive relationships, and build confidence. Every day is different, and you will play a key role in supporting young people to achieve their potential. Responsibilities may include: * Providing 1:1 and small group support * Building positive and trusting relationships with students * Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies * Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities * Encouraging student engagement and participation * Helping create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment What Were Looking For * A degree in Psychology or a related subject * Previous experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults * A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach * Strong communication and relationship-building skills * An interest in mental health, child development, behaviour, or education * A desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people Why This Role?
