Job description
Laundry Operations role combining driving and physical work to keep essential services moving efficiently across a busy school campus every day. We are seeking reliable and proactive Laundry Porters to join the Domestic Services team at Wellington College. Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, with train and bus links providing easy access to transport connections, our 400 acre estate is a unique and inspiring place to work. Wellington is a dynamic, values-led community where collaboration and high standards underpin every aspect of daily life. This is a vital operational role supporting the delivery of a centralised laundry service across the College. You will contribute to the timely collection, movement and distribution of laundry and linen across a large and varied site, helping to ensure that daily schedules are met and essential services continue to run smoothly. The role combines driving duties with active, hands-on work and would suit someone who enjoys a practical role in a busy environment. You will regularly drive College vehicles as part of your responsibilities, transporting laundry safely between campus locations and supporting the efficient movement of items across the site. The role also involves sustained manual handling, including lifting and moving heavy loads, navigating stairs and completing repetitive tasks with care, accuracy and consistency. Working closely with colleagues, you will help provide a dependable and well-coordinated laundry service that supports pupils, staff and the wider College community. You will also assist with maintaining equipment, monitoring supplies and keeping the working environment clean, organised and safe. The successful candidates will be positive, reliable and hard-working, with confidence driving as part of their role and the ability to work independently as well as within a team. Experience in a practical or operational setting would be helpful, together with the stamina, resilience and attention to detail needed to deliver a consistent, high-quality service. Joining a school community brings a strong sense of purpose and connection. At Wellington, you will have access to training and development that supports your professional growth, while working with colleagues who take pride in delivering excellent service across our campus. There are two vacancies available. Both roles are contracted for 30 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. The full-time equivalent salary for the role is £27,040 per annum, with an actual salary of £20,280 per annum based on 30 hours per week. In addition to salary, Wellington College offers a generous benefits package, including enhanced holiday entitlement, a holiday purchase scheme, pension provisions, life assurance, complimentary meals during working hours, free parking, access to fitness and wellbeing facilities, and a range of staff discounts and development opportunities. Safeguarding & Wellbeing Wellington College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You must have the right to work in the UK. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion / Equal Opportunities We welcome applications from all backgrounds; we promote an inclusive and supportive environment; equal opportunities employer. How to Apply All candidates must apply via our online application form using the link below. A CV may be uploaded in support of the application, but the Wellington application form must be completed in full for your application to be considered.
