EL/PL Fee Earner | Manchester | Hybrid Working
A strong caseload. A supportive team. The flexibility to do your best work.
We're growing our EL/PL team and are looking for an experienced Fee Earner who enjoys taking ownership of their cases, building strong client relationships and seeing claims through with confidence.
This isn't a role where you'll be left to figure everything out alone. You'll join a friendly, approachable and genuinely supportive team where people share knowledge, help each other and work together to get the best outcomes for clients.
You'll be based in our bright, modern Manchester office for two days each week, with the flexibility to work from home for the rest of the week.
What you'll be doing
You'll manage a varied caseload of around 100-125 pre- and post-litigation Employer's Liability and Public Liability claims. You'll have responsibility for progressing your files effectively, maintaining momentum and keeping clients informed from instruction through to resolution.
Your work will include:
- Managing EL/PL claims from pre-litigation through to court proceedings
- Keeping cases moving and ensuring key dates, limitation periods and court deadlines are met
- Reviewing medical evidence and assessing the next steps in each claim
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements and letters of instruction
- Negotiating settlements and liaising with insurers
- Issuing and progressing court proceedings where required
- Maintaining accurate diaries and case records
- Keeping clients updated and providing clear, reassuring communication throughout their claim
- Using our in-house case management systems to manage and progress your workload
- Staying informed about relevant legal and regulatory developments
- Carrying out research using internal legal and technical resources
You'll probably enjoy this role if...
You're comfortable managing your own caseload, but value having knowledgeable people around you when you need to talk through an issue.
You know that good file management is about more than meeting deadlines - it's about keeping cases moving, communicating clearly and giving clients confidence that their claim is being handled properly.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience managing EL/PL personal injury claims
- Experience handling pre- and post-litigation work
- The ability to manage a busy caseload without losing attention to detail
- Strong written communication and negotiation skills
- A practical, organised and proactive approach
- Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a team
Additional relevant experience or technical skills will be welcomed.
What's in it for you?
We want people to feel supported both at work and outside it. Alongside flexible, hybrid working, you'll receive:
- 25 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays
- A paid day off for your birthday
- One paid charity or community day each year use it to support a cause that matters to you
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
