Job description
About ExaWe raised a $250M Series C to build the search engine for AIs. Led by a16z, with existing investors Benchmark, Lightspeed, and YC doubling down, the round brings Exas valuation to $2.2 billion.Exa is building a search engine for the AI era. Our Search API currently powers Agents, Fortune 500s and AI labs as we transform an industry that hasnt been disrupted since the 90s. We’re a largely SF-based team of ~100 from Harvard, MIT, Meta, Google Research, ex-founders & dropouts alike. We are rapidly building the most intelligent search engine in history. Were high agency, low-ego, and united by the feeling that this is one of the last problems worth getting right. About the Role This is our first dedicated field marketing hire in Europe. You will build the EMEA program from a near-blank page: deciding which markets matter first, what formats work in each, and how a fast-moving American AI infrastructure company earns credibility with European enterprise buyers who will not be rushed. You own the regional program, not just its logistics. That means the strategic call about London versus Paris versus Amsterdam versus Munich, the choice between a hosted dinner and a conference presence, and the judgment about what a room of senior technical buyers in each market will actually attend. You will execute all of it to a high standard, often as the only marketing person in the country. The operating reality matters here. You will work across time zones with an SF-based team, navigate local vendors and contracts, and handle the regulatory and cultural differences that make European field marketing distinct from a US playbook copied across the Atlantic. This role is based in-person in London, with regular travel across EMEA and periodic trips to our San Francisco HQ. What You’ll Own EMEA program strategy Own the regional plan: market prioritization, format mix, account coverage, and quarterly sequencing. Build it with EMEA sales and defend it with a pipeline rationale. Success is measured by program quality and by pipeline sourced and influenced across the region. End-to-end execution across markets Own every event from concept to wrap in multiple countries: venue, vendors, catering, production, invitations, run of show, on-site management, and the local details that differ market to market. Success is measured by attendance of the right people and by execution that never becomes the story. Sales partnership and account-based events Own the working relationship with EMEA sellers: target accounts, invitation strategy, in-deal events, and the choreography that turns a conversation into a next meeting. Success is measured by meetings generated and by seller demand for your programs. Pipeline outcomes and follow-through Own what happens after the event: lead capture, timely handoff, and the follow-up motion in partnership with Lifecycle Marketing and Marketing Ops, including consent and data handling under GDPR. Success is measured by conversion from attendee to qualified opportunity. Regional budget, vendors, and compliance Own budget, vendor contracts and negotiation in multiple currencies, and the practical compliance layer: GDPR consent capture, invoicing, and local requirements. Success is measured by program impact per dollar and by clean data practices. Building the EMEA playbook Own the documented approach that future European hires will inherit: what works by market, vendor relationships, and the local knowledge that would otherwise live only in your head. AI-first operations Use AI to compress the operational load: targeting, personalized outreach at scale, vendor and market research, translation support, run-of-show generation, and post-event summarization. One person covering a continent only works if the busywork is automated. What Success Looks Like A credible EMEA program exists where none did, with the right buyers in the room. EMEA sellers actively request and co-own events because they see the pipeline. Every event has a follow-up motion that runs on time and handles consent correctly. We know which European markets deserve more investment and which do not, based on evidence. Execution quality is high enough that logistics are invisible, in every market. The playbook you build makes the next European hire faster than you were. What This Role Does Not Own * Global field marketing strategy, budget allocation across regions, and program standards: Field Marketing Leader. * Email, nurture sequences, and webinar platform operations: Lifecycle Marketing. * Developer hackathons, meetups, and community events: Developer Relations. * Speaker content, pitch narrative, and messaging: Product Marketing. * Press and executive speaking placements: Communications. * CRM configuration, routing, and attribution methodology: Marketing Operations and RevOps. Who You Are * 4+ years in field marketing or event marketing at a B2B technology company, with ownership of a multi-country European program rather than execution of someone elses. * Deep event craft: you can walk us through a run of show, tell us what you check at 4pm before a 6pm start, and describe the last thing that went wrong and how you covered it. * Genuine EMEA market knowledge: you know how buyer behavior, venue norms, and attendance expectations differ between the markets you have worked in. * A real pipeline orientation. You have carried or contributed to a number and can talk about cost per qualified attendee without flinching. * Evidence of strong sales partnership, including how you handled a seller who wanted something you thought was a bad idea. * Comfort operating semi-autonomously with a headquarters in another time zone, and the initiative that requires. * Practical fluency with GDPR as it applies to event data and marketing consent. * AI-native working habits: you use AI to remove operational load and can show us how. Nice to Have * Experience launching a region from zero at an early-stage or US-headquartered company. * Additional European languages. * Experience running events for a technical or developer audience alongside enterprise buyers. * Conference sponsorship negotiation with major European technology events. * Experience running executive roundtables for senior technical leaders in multiple countries. Benefits * Health and wellness: Premium medical coverage, plus a monthly wellness benefit tiered by location. * Fertility and family planning: Reimbursement for eligible egg freezing and related medical expenses up to a $15,000 lifetime maximum, plus 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents, whether through birth, adoption, surrogacy, or foster placement. * Life at Exa: Our SF office serves lunch and dinner daily, with snacks, coffee, fresh bread from a local bakery, weekly milk tea, monthly picnics, and parties to celebrate the wins (and each other). Youll visit often. Visa sponsorship We sponsor visas for exceptional candidates and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and locations. Equal Opportunity Employer Exa is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related conditions, criminal histories consistent with applicable law, or any other basis protected by applicable law.
