Job description
Production Design Engineer - Salisbury, Wiltshire SP5 We're looking for an experienced Production Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke electrical control systems for the agricultural sector and is looking to expand its close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll play a key role in designing bespoke control panels, supporting the sales process, and working closely with production to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. What's on offer * Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 DOE * Hours: Monday to Thursday (8:00am - 4:30pm) Friday (8:00am-3:30pm) * Location: Fully office-based * Holidays: 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays Key responsibilities * Design bespoke electrical control panels and control systems to meet customer specifications. * Produce wiring schematics, panel layouts and assembly drawings using SEE Electrical. * Modify and maintain mechanical drawings using SolidWorks. * Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routings using Microsoft Dynamics ERP. * Work closely with the sales team to review customer enquiries and prepare technical quotations. * Provide technical advice and product support to both customers and internal colleagues. * Carry out testing and quality inspections of completed control panels prior to dispatch. * Support new product development and continuous product improvements. * Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and BOMs. * Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, sharing technical knowledge and supporting the wider team where required. * There will be occasional customer interaction, including answering incoming calls and providing technical support when required. * On very rare occasions, attend customer sites to assist with technical issues or breakdowns. About you * Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline. * Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Production Design Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Control Panel Design Engineer or similar role. * Experience designing electrical control panels and bespoke control systems. * Proficient in SEE Electrical or similar electrical CAD software. * Experience using SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical drawings. * Good understanding of electrical principles, motors and associated control systems. * Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs). * Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers and colleagues. * A proactive team player who enjoys working within a collaborative office environment. * Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Desirable: * Experience using Microsoft Dynamics ERP. * Knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition). * Knowledge of BS EN 60204. * Previous experience within manufacturing, industrial controls or agricultural engineering.
