This role combines hands-on financial leadership with responsibility for supporting strategic decisions, business performance, systems improvement and wider operational initiatives.

The business is seeking a commercially focused Finance Director to provide financial leadership, support strategic decision-making and help drive continued operational and commercial performance.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role offers a rare opportunity to influence the direction of the business whilst leading finance and several key support functions.
Description
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering the financial strategy for the business
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning
- Providing commercial insight and analysis to support decision-making
- Producing timely management information, KPIs and performance reporting
- Managing cashflow, treasury and working capital
- Supporting profitability improvement and cost optimisation initiatives
- Maintaining robust financial controls, systems and governance
- Presenting financial performance and recommendations at board level
- Leading a small finance team and overseeing wider business support functions
- Managing relationships with external stakeholders including banks, auditors and advisors
- Supporting strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Profile
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience operating within an SME environment.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong management accounting and forecasting capabilities
- Experience supporting senior leaders with commercial decisions
- Ability to influence and challenge constructively
- Strong cashflow and working capital management experience
- Experience improving systems, processes and reporting
- Leadership experience within a fast-paced business environment
- A hands-on and proactive approach
Previous experience within operational, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, industrial services or similarly fast-moving environments would be advantageous.
Job Offer
