Market Growth Lead

Full Time | £67,779 - £79,076 (dependent on experience)

Hybrid working (3 days in office)

Who we are

We are Ordnance Survey, Great Britain’s national mapping service and a global leader in geospatial data and technology. For over 230 years, our data has helped governments, businesses and communities make better decisions about the world around them.

Join our dynamic Markets team

The Markets team sits at the centre of how Ordnance Survey grows, connecting customer insight, market demand and product capability to ensure we focus on the right opportunities and deliver meaningful outcomes.

As OS continues its transition towards a more commercial and customer-led organisation, Markets plays a critical role in helping the business identify where to invest, which opportunities to prioritise and how we maximise the value of our products and services.

We're strengthening how we assess, validate and scale growth opportunities across our markets. Bringing together market intelligence, customer insight, commercial thinking and operational discipline to ensure we consistently focus on opportunities that create the greatest value for customers and OS.

This is a high-impact role where your decisions and influence will directly shape growth priorities, investment decisions and the future direction of products and services across the organisation.

If you're passionate about turning insight into action and helping shape the future of OS, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

About the role

As Market Growth Lead, you'll be responsible for ensuring OS translates market insight and product strategy into prioritised, evidence-led growth opportunities that can be delivered at pace.

You'll provide leadership across our Market Operations & Intelligence capability, helping the organisation understand where growth is occurring, which opportunities are delivering value and how successful approaches can be replicated across markets.

You will work closely with our sector experts, Market Development Leads, combining their market expertise with a consistent approach to prioritisation, insight and performance management. Together, you'll help ensure OS focuses on the right opportunities, learns from what delivers the greatest impact and scales successful approaches across our markets.

  • Lead how OS identifies, assesses and prioritises growth opportunities across multiple markets.

  • Develop and maintain a consistent framework for evaluating opportunities and tracking performance.

  • Bring together customer, market and sales insight to support evidence-led decision making.

  • Lead the Market Operations & Intelligence team and capability, including Product Operations and Insights.

  • Provide visibility of opportunities across the organisation, helping identify what is working, where value is being created and where intervention may be required.

  • Establish governance and decision-making processes that improve focus, pace and accountability.

  • Work closely with Product, Customer and Market teams to align growth opportunities with product development and organisational priorities.

This role combines commercial strategy, market insight, operational leadership and stakeholder influence. Working across Product, Customer and Markets teams to ensure opportunities are assessed consistently, supported by evidence and aligned to organisational priorities.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for someone who combines strong commercial thinking with the ability to bring structure, focus and clarity to complex environments.

You might currently work in commercial strategy, market strategy, growth, portfolio management, proposition, business planning or product leadership. What matters most is your ability to use evidence, insight and sound judgement to influence decisions and drive measurable outcomes.

You'll be comfortable operating across multiple teams, balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery, and working through others to create alignment and momentum..

  • Strong experience in commercial strategy, market development, growth, product strategy or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience of identifying, assessing and progressing commercial opportunities using evidence, insight and sound judgement.

  • Experience using customer, market and performance data to inform decisions, challenge assumptions and improve outcomes.

  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to assess opportunity viability, trade-offs and investment priorities.

  • Experience working across Product, Customer and commercial functions to align activity around shared goals.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build alignment and make progress in complex environments.

  • Experience leading teams, capabilities or cross-functional initiatives, setting direction and driving performance.

  • The ability to prioritise effectively, bring clarity to competing demands and maintain focus on what delivers the greatest value.

  • A structured, outcome-focused approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery.

If you're curious, commercially minded and passionate about turning insight into action, we'd love to hear from you.

Our Principles

At OS, how we work matters just as much as what we deliver. Throughout our hiring process we will assess competence assessing alignment in how you:

  • Clear the path – Cut the noise, simplify and remove blockers so work can move at pace

  • Seek the story – Listen fully, build understanding, fact‑check assumptions and speak up

  • Do what matters – Focus on value, make deliberate stop/start/continue decisions, and recognise the contribution of others

The Rewards

We want you to love what you do. That is why our benefits package rewards a job well done. Check out how we support and invest in our employees by clicking here.

  • Salary – £67,779 - £79,076 (dependent on experience)

  • Performance related bonus up to 10%

  • A competitive pension scheme (OS contributes up to 12.07%)

  • 28 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays on joining, (3 taken over Christmas) increasing by one day per year, to a maximum of 5 years

  • Enhanced family leave, including up to 12 weeks paid partner (paternity) leave

  • Free subscription to OS Maps

  • Access to online learning platforms

  • Coaching and Mentoring schemes

  • Plus, a suite of excellent additional perks and benefits

At OS, we believe looking after your health and wellbeing means more than posters and events. We empower you to manage your work and life the way you need it by offering things like

  • An extra days’ leave for each year you work, up to 33 days

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Hybrid working

  • Free onsite parking at our modern HQ in Southampton

  • We adopt flexible working and can consider different working hours dependent on the role and your personal circumstances

  • Eyecare Vouchers

  • OS Explorers Nursery discount

  • Cycle to Work scheme

  • We believe that as a company we should give back wherever we can, so we give you 1 day a year to volunteer for charities that are important to you, as well as offering a match funding scheme

Location:

We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to spend a minimum of three days a week, inclusive of visits to customer meetings. With the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.

Security

OS conducts pre-employment checks for anyone made an offer of employment, including identity, right to work, employment history and criminal record checks (via Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS)).

Some of our roles may require additional security vetting. We will advise candidates during the recruitment process if additional vetting may be required for that specific role.

Closing date: Friday 14th August 2026 at 23:59pm

How to apply

  • Please upload your CV and A covering letter outlining your motivation for applying for the role and the value you believe you can bring.

  • Interviews are scheduled to take place in person at Ordnance Survey Head office.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for this role, therefore you must have the right to work in the UK, without the need for employer sponsorship.

Inclusion

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that people may need during the recruitment process, and you will be asked whether you require any during the application process.

Research indicates that women, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ community members, neurodiverse individuals, and people from ethnic minority backgrounds often hesitate to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Ordnance Survey, we are dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and genuine workplace where everyone can thrive. If you’re enthusiastic about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly match every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the ideal candidate for this or other roles within Ordnance Survey.
