Job description

Clinical Director will provide strong clinical leadership across the collaborative working closely with the Clinical Director for Transformation and the Programme Director. The role will promote the development of clinical practice across NCEL CAMHS, ensuring safe and effective practice, systems of clinical involvement and provide assurance of quality to the ELFT and NCEL CAMHS Provider Collaborative governance system. The post holder will need to be creative and flexible as you will participate in the future development of the Provider Collaborative.

Main duties of the job

The NCEL PC has a clinical team supporting decision making about admissions to in-patient and day services and to Home Treatment Teams. The team also maintain quality oversight following admissions and work to facilitate appropriate discharge plans and community engagement. Clinical Directorwill support high quality decision making, maintaining clinical flow and ensuring young people receive the most appropriate service for their needs. The post holder will provide senior medical advice to the clinical team and support clinical escalation processes when necessary. Working with the Head of Quality you will ensure the effective operation of the Clinical team, help develop new partnerships, pathways and service models.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Director will work alongside the Clinical Director for Transformation in delivering the clinical strategy and improvement plans for the development of quality across the NCEL CAMHS Provider Collaborative. This includes fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and providers to support development of clinical practice across NCEL CAMHS, promote clinical quality and development of clinical pathways in line with the service user set aims of the collaborative.

The post holder will lead the Clinical Leadership Group(CLG) and sub-groups, working with clinical colleagues from across the collaborative to standardise practice and reduce variation where clinically beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Further professional qualification
  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Lead Clinician within professional group
  • Experience of increasing staff engagement and motivation to improve performance
  • Experience of leading service and/or transformational change
  • Experience of managing complex problems
  • Significant senior experience in an NHS Trust, operating at Senior Management Level

Knowledge

  • Clinical expert, with extensive knowledge of contemporary clinical services and national policy.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering evidenced based practice and utilizing research in practice.
  • Sound understanding of the principles of QI and its application.
  • Demonstrable track record of operational performance improvement
  • Demonstrates effective partnership working with internal and external stakeholders

Skills

  • Sound knowledge, problem solving and improvement methodologies
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and persuade regarding complex or sensitive issues
  • Ability to operate effectively in clinical academic operational environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Motivational skills to lead staff to deliver operational objectives and standards
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills, together with excellent listening skills including facilitation
  • Advanced MS Office
