Director of Education


Location: Liverpool Street, London, EC3A 7LP

Salary: £64,000 to £75,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Reporting to: Chief Academic Officer


UKCBC is seeking an experienced and inspiring Director of Education to provide academic leadership across our higher education provision and help shape outstanding outcomes for our students.


UKCBC exists to enable opportunity, cultivate confidence and develop capability through applied, inclusive and professionally relevant higher education. Working with university and awarding body partners, we support a diverse student community to succeed in their studies and progress towards positive destinations.


About the Role

As Director of Education, you will lead the operational delivery of the College’s academic strategy across Schools and programmes. Working under the strategic leadership of the Chief Academic Officer, you will oversee academic performance, quality assurance, teaching and learning enhancement, student outcomes, and relationships with university and awarding body partners.


You will lead the Head of School and Head of Student Support and Experience, chair the Quality of Education Committee, and ensure that academic delivery meets regulatory requirements, partner expectations and institutional standards.


The role holds operational ownership of the Office for Students’ quality and standards requirements, including the effective monitoring and continuous improvement of academic delivery, assessment, academic support and student outcomes.


Key Priorities

  • Lead the implementation of the College’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
  • Enhance academic performance and student engagement, with a clear focus on continuation, completion and progression.
  • Drive continuous improvement in teaching quality, academic standards and student outcomes.
  • Provide institutional leadership and assurance for academic quality, standards and compliance with OfS Condition B.
  • Manage strategic relationships with university and awarding body partners.
  • Bring academic and professional services teams together to deliver a coherent and supportive student experience.
  • Chair the Quality of Education Committee and provide clear assurance on academic performance, quality, standards and risk.
  • Develop the capability, consistency and accountability of academic leaders and teaching teams.


About You

You will bring:

  • A postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience and a recognised higher education teaching qualification.
  • Significant academic leadership experience within higher education.
  • Experience leading academic teams, programmes or portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance, academic governance and regulatory compliance.
  • A track record of using performance data to improve student outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to translate academic strategy into effective operational delivery.


Experience within partnership or franchised higher education provision and Fellowship or Senior Fellowship of Advance HE would be advantageous.
