Job description
Job Title:Engineering Plant Operative (Electrical) Contract type: Permanent Salary: £33,496.41 per annum Closing date & time: Monday 17 Aug 2026 10:00 Job reference: About the Role: The Water Supply Function operates and maintains raw water sources and associated water treatment works across Northern Ireland. The Function is responsible for producing treated water to agreed standards for distribution to customers. The purpose of the job is to operate and maintain the Altnahinch and Dungonnell Water Treatment Works together with related raw water resources. To manage raw water resources and deliver potable water to the required quality and quantity and ensure this is done securely, effectively, efficiently, safely and environmentally. Responsibilities: Effective and efficient operation and maintenance of treatment plants and raw water resources in a secure and environmentally friendly manner. All work to be carried out with full consideration for and compliance with health and safety. Carry out and record routine planned and preventative maintenance of plant & equipment as scheduled on the computer based Mobile Work Management System; Implement and record fault diagnosis and repair faults as required, utilising the computer based Mobile Work Management System; Fault diagnosis and reporting faults to the Plant Manager and the M & E Services team via the computer based Mobile Work Management System; Inform and advise line managers, suggest options and recommend a course of action to resolve particular issues; Please refer to candidate brief for further details. A relevant National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 3 AND be a time served electrical craftsperson; OR Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship AND have significant relevant trade experience working as a craft worker; AND 2. Hold a full current valid driving licence which will enable you to fulfil your responsibilities. 3. Potential employees must have a permanent residence within 30 miles travelling distance by public road to: Greencastle Wastewater Treatment works, 127, Greencastle Road, Mountfield, Tyrone, BT79 7QN as measured by RAC Route Planner from each of the full plant postcodes to your full home postcode via the shortest route selection on the website. This is to enable NI Water to meet its key customer service requirements and deliver effective services to customers, particularly in respect of the need to respond promptly to out of hours emergencies.
