Salary - £25,407 + £2,000 Market Rate Allowance per annum

Hours - 37 hours per week, all year round, Fixed Term Contract

We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Technician Trainer in Electrical to join our Construction team at Peterborough College. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in the electrical industry who would like to play a key role in supporting the next generation of construction professionals. You'll deliver practical coaching, help maintain excellent standards in our workshops, and ensure our training facilities remain safe, clean, and well-organised. No two days are the same, making this a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a collaborative, supportive team.

About the Role

As a Technician Trainer in Electrical, you will be responsible for training and providing practical support and assistance to staff and learners on our Construction programmes. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting lecturing staff in providing and undertaking practical and vocational learning activities for learners.
• Providing high-quality training, coaching, and underpinning knowledge to students on their selected programmes.
• Assessing student competence against pre-determined criteria and tracking progress.
• Training students through one-to-one tutorials, classroom-style workshops, observations, and reviews.
• Checking, maintaining, and undertaking minor repairs on workshop tools and specialist equipment.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment, keeping accurate stock levels and inventories.
• Supervising student activities, practical work, examinations, and visits to ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
• Participating in risk assessments and promoting safe working practices across the department.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has practical experience and strong technical knowledge within the electrical or construction industry.
• Has experience in training, coaching, or a strong desire to transfer their trade skills to others.
• Enjoys working with, supporting, and encouraging teenagers and young adults of mixed abilities.
• Has a highly organised, proactive, and methodical approach to problem-solving and task management.
• Possesses excellent planning, administrative, and record-keeping skills, with good IT literacy (MS Office).
• Is a strong team player who promotes a positive, "can-do" attitude and excellent customer service.
• Is committed to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with industry standards.
