Programmes Co-ordinator – Academy and Fellowship Programmes

Are you passionate about upskilling the healthcare workforce, building research capacity and improving treatment and care for people with a brain tumour?

Summary of the role and required skills

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing non-profit health organisation delivering national transformational programmes, backed by the UK government, NHS and major cancer charities. We are looking for a highly organised, proactive and personable individual to support the delivery of the Tessa Jowell Academy and Fellowship Programmes.

The role will be dynamic and varied, working across complementary programmes. You will support the delivery of national training courses and professional networks through the Tessa Jowell Academy, alongside the delivery of the Tessa Jowell Fellowship Programme. The successful candidate will help build research awareness and capability across the neuro-oncology workforce, support fellowship recruitment and help create opportunities for healthcare professionals to develop their careers.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys project management, stakeholder engagement and education delivery. It offers the opportunity to work closely with NHS professionals, researchers, charities and professional organisations while developing programme management skills. Strong organisational, communication and relationship-building skills are essential.

We are open to applications from graduates who can demonstrate motivation and evidence of building the skills and experience needed for this role through academic, voluntary or extracurricular activities.

The Tessa Jowell Academy

The Tessa Jowell Academy is a free national learning and networking platform with over 2,000 members. It provides training, peer-learning, networking and research opportunities to healthcare professionals involved in the treatment, care and support of people with a brain tumour. These programmes aim to improve workforce skills, share best practice and reduce variation in care across the UK.

The Tessa Jowell Fellowship Programme

The Tessa Jowell Fellowship Programme aims to support the development of future leaders in neuro-oncology by creating opportunities for all medical specialties involved in the delivery of treatment, care and research for patients with brain tumours to develop research, service improvement and leadership skills. More recently, the Fellowship programme has developed research fellowships for Allied Health Professionals (AHP) which aim to broaden the evidence base for rehabilitation and supportive care for patients with a brain tumour and improve research skills in the AHP community.

The individual will be overseen by the Head of Academy, Chief Operating Officer and work with the Academy and Fellowship team.

About us

The Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission (TJBCM) is a data-driven non-profit dedicated to improving treatment, care and research for brain cancer across the UK.
