We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a secure forensic mental health service, providing specialist psychiatric care to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. The service operates across low, medium, and high-security units and involves working with complex forensic cases requiring specialist risk management.
In this role, you will conduct detailed forensic risk assessments and provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings. You will develop and oversee rehabilitation pathways for forensic patients transitioning to lower security settings. Working closely with probation services, police, and the Ministry of Justice, you will coordinate care. Additionally, you will provide consultation and leadership to forensic nurses, psychologists, and social workers, implement violence reduction strategies and risk management frameworks, and participate in multi‑agency safeguarding meetings, providing expert advice on criminal responsibility and mental health defenses.
