Job description

Job Summary
CYPMHS West Hertfordshire is seeking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated CYP Practitioner with an appropriate professional qualification and relevant experience to join our multi-disciplinary team.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) offered on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality care, making a significant contribution to the clinical and nursing input within the team. Responsibilities will include active participation in the referral and allocation process, undertaking assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions, risk management, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and care coordination. The role also involves contributing to case discussions and wider service meetings.

In addition, the post holder will provide consultation and supervision to colleagues, students, and professionals within partner services.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To develop and provide highly specialist evidence-based interventions for service users, drawing on a wide range of theoretical frameworks and treatment modalities.
  • To deliver timely, accessible services through both clinic based and outreach models.
  • To provide highly specialist advice and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to colleagues, external agencies working autonomously within professional guidelines.
  • Care coordinate a caseload of service users delivering highly specialist assessments and integrated care.
  • Together with other team members to be responsible for developing nursing practice in the service including the supervision of both nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines in the service.
  • To actively participate in supervision, appraisal and professional development to enhance clinical skills, e.g. nurse prescribing.
  • To chair/attend MDTs for all teams providing clinical sign off
  • To work collaboratively and provide nursing consultation to other relevant professions within HPFT and external agencies to build capacity in terms of the early identification and physical and psychological management of disorders and/or disability.
  • To take a leading role for service innovation and development, including projects with other junior staff to ensure delivery of safe effective nursing

Job Responsibilities

  • To clinically and/or professionally supervise junior staff and trainees within the team as appropriate and as agreed with professional leads and operational managers
  • To lead and contribute to reading and clinical seminars, participate in the training/education of both clinic team members and trainees placed at the clinic.
  • To act as a positive role model for other colleagues and seek advice from Senior Clinicians/Managers as appropriate.
  • To take part in clinical and managerial supervision, managing own caseload within agreed parameters and levels.
  • To ensure regular supervision of own casework by clinical supervisor.
  • To be responsible for identifying ones own needs for professional development, discussing and planning this with the supervisor.

Qualifications
Essential

  • Any Professional and Accredited Qualification of Nurse, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologists, Child and Psychotherapists and/or Systemic Psychotherapists,
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to complete further training and qualification identified as appropriate to the role
  • Communications skills / Leadership training


Desirable

  • Experience of working with Child and Adolescent service users of mental health services

  • Extensive experience of working with CYPMHS
  • Leadership skills
  • Range of work procedures and practices; base level of theoretical knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience to deal with nonroutine issues such as problem solving for an area of work or developing alternative or additional procedure
  • Knowledge of specialist functional / medical/legal terms, organisational policies and procedures
  • Experience in a mental health environment or NHS


Skills
Essential

  • Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience liaising with external agencies and report writing.
  • Awareness of mental health problems affecting children and young people
  • Experience and understanding of neurodevelopment difficulties, including Autism spectrum disorder Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
  • Awareness of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Able to provide and receive routine information requiring tact or persuasive skills, considering barriers to understanding. Eg. anxious patients cultural differences, language or communication difficulties.
