Head of Direct Tax — High-Growth, Acquisitive SaaS Business
Our client is a highly acquisitive, fast-scaling SaaS business headquartered in West London, operating across dozens of markets globally. With a large and complex international footprint built through sustained M&A activity, they've invested heavily in a tech-forward, AI-enabled finance and tax function, and are looking to bring in a senior tax leader to match that ambition.
Reporting to the Group Head of Tax, this role takes ownership of global income tax compliance and tax reporting across the group, working alongside a wider tax and finance function and managing a small team. It carries genuine seniority, personal responsibility for some of the group's most significant tax relationships and filings, and real scope to shape how compliance and reporting are run going forward.
Responsibilities
- Own global income tax compliance across the group's international entity structure, taking personal responsibility for the group's most significant direct tax filings
- Manage the relationship with HMRC, including ownership of the Business Risk Review process, working proactively towards a low-risk rating
- Partner on the group's Pillar 2 (global minimum tax) position and compliance obligations, and support integration of newly acquired entities and legal entity rationalisation
- Lead and develop a small tax team, while driving continuous improvement in compliance and reporting processes, including the adoption of tax technology and AI tools
Requirements
- ACA/CTA qualified or equivalent, with substantial UK corporate and direct tax compliance experience gained in-house at a large multinational or within a large accounting firm
- Proven experience managing HMRC relationships, ideally including direct involvement in a Business Risk Review
- Strong experience of tax accounting and tax provision processes, including group financial statement disclosures
- Demonstrable people leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a small team across a demanding, fast-moving workload
This is a £120,000 to £140,000 (DOE) role based in West London, with a hybrid working pattern.
Beyond the compensation, this is a rare opportunity to take genuine ownership of a high-profile tax function within a business that treats tax technology and AI adoption as a real priority rather than a talking point, with direct visibility to senior finance leadership.
