Service Designer

Service Designer Location: Newcastle upon Tyne – Hybrid Salary: Up to £55,000 The role We're looking for a Service Designer to join a multidisciplinary team working on complex digital services. You'll be responsible for understanding the end-to-end user experience, identifying pain points and opportunities, and designing services that work effectively for both users and the wider organisation. What you'll be doing * Understand user needs and business requirements through collaboration with stakeholders and User Researchers. * Create service blueprints, user journeys and service maps to understand and improve end-to-end experiences. * Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and delivery teams. * Champion user-centred, inclusive and accessible design. * Work closely with Interaction Designers, User Researchers, Content Designers, Developers and other specialists. * Present your work and design rationale to clients and stakeholders. * Use evidence, data and user feedback to iterate and improve services. * Ensure designs align with established design systems, standards and patterns. What we're looking for * Previous experience as a Service Designer or in a similar role. * Experience working with Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles. * Strong understanding of user-centred design. * Experience influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders. * Experience working with design systems, libraries, style guides and established patterns. * Strong communication and workshop facilitation skills. It would be great if you also have * Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams. * Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design. * Experience with HTML, Markdown, Nunjucks or other prototyping languages. * Experience mentoring or supporting junior designers.
