Job description

Department of International Relations PhD Programme Coordinator Salary from £36,513 to £41,565 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £44,468 pa inclusive of London allowance This is a fixed term post for 12-months, ideally starting in Sept 2026. This vacancy is open to both internal and external applicants. Internal candidates may apply to undertake the role as a secondment, subject to agreement with their current line manager. The Department of International Relations seeks to appoint a proactive and highly motivated PhD Programme Coordinator, to join the Professional Services team responsible for delivering the postgraduate research programme within the Department on a fixed term basis. The post holder will have leading administrative responsibility for day-to-day matters relating to current and prospective students on the MPhil/PhD programme in the Department of International Relations and acts as the primary point of contact for students and staff. Key Tasks Include * Providing effective administrative and advisory support to research students and academic staff, ensuring compliance with School policy and practice guidelines. * Acting asthefirst point of contact forthe research programme, providing accurate and timely information and advice to staff and students with reference to the programme and Research Degree Regulations. Updating information annually and supporting the development of PhD programme. * Coordinating professional development seminars and research conferences in collaboration with the senior faculty and the PhD and Research Manager. Candidates must have relevant experience of working in higher education or a similar academic environment in a student-facing administrative role, along with strong time-management skills and the ability to manage a busy workload. They should demonstrate a commitment to high-quality service, contribute positively to a team, and be able to resolve problems effectively, using initiative and judgement to handle both routine and more complex issues, including recognising when a problem should be referred to others. * We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
