Consultant Psychiatrist – Furness CMHT, Barrow in Furness

We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Furness Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). The post is full time (10PA) and based at Duddon House, Barrow in Furness.
Remuneration includes a Recruitment & Retention Premia of £40k (subject to tax and NI) payable on commencement of employment. Additional remuneration will be payable for participation on the Consultant On Call rota. Eligibility criteria apply; current Trust staff are not eligible for the premia.
Main Duties
The postholder will work as a Consultant Psychiatrist within the CMHT, providing clinical leadership and support to a multidisciplinary team of nursing, social work, occupational therapy and psychology staff across the Furness area (Millom, Ulverston, Barrow-in-Furness). Responsibilities include:
- Managing a small caseload of patients in outpatient settings while ensuring most patients receive care from a dedicated key worker.
- Advising primary care and the multidisciplinary team, maintaining close liaison with designated GP practices.
- Participating in the Consultant On Call rota.
- Developing and delivering clinical supervision and educational programmes as appropriate.
- Supporting digital or leadership initiatives in line with Trust ambitions.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
- On the GMC Specialist Register, or eligible for entry to the register within 6 months of the interview date.
- Section 12 approved at enrolment, or within 3 months.
- Approved Clinician status, or within 3 months.
Experience
- Relevant knowledge, skills and experience for community psychiatric practice.
