Main duties of the job Main Duties of the Registered Nurse - Medical Elderly Ward As a Registered Nurse on our Medical Elderly Ward, you will provide high-quality, compassionate, and patient-centred care to older adults with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions. - Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised care for elderly patients.- Delivering safe and effective nursing care while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.- Administering medications and treatments in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.- Monitoring patients physical and mental health, recognising deterioration, and escalating concerns appropriately.- Supporting patients living with frailty, dementia, delirium, and complex medical needs. Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and support discharge planning.- Communicating effectively with patients, relatives, and carers, providing information and emotional support.- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation and electronic patient records.- Promoting patient safety, infection prevention, safeguarding, and falls prevention measures.- Supervising and supporting healthcare assistants, student nurses, and newly qualified staff.- Participating in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and ongoing professional development. Reports all incidents, accidents and complaints to the unit manager and completes Trust incident forms in accordance with risk management policies. Ensures compliance with Trust policies and procedures Ensure own standards are maintained in relation to clinical governance Provides leadership in the monitoring of standards of care Act as shift coordinator in rotation with other nurses in the team * The post holder shall as necessary provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues. * The post holder shall follow all the policies and procedures of the organisation.
