\n We're looking for dedicated Support and Assessment Workers to join a specialist children's service, working directly with families experiencing complex challenges including neglect, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health difficulties, trauma and safeguarding concerns.\n
\n
\n This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping children remain safe, supporting parents to build their confidence and skills, and contributing to life-changing outcomes across Leicestershire.\n

\n The Role As a Support and Assessment Worker, you'll provide intensive, hands-on support to children and families within their homes and communities. Working alongside Social Workers and multi-agency professionals, you'll deliver parenting assessments, direct interventions and practical support designed to improve children's wellbeing and safety.\n
\n
\n Your responsibilities will include:\n
\n
\n
    \n
  • Delivering intensive family support programmes tailored to individual needs
  • \n
  • Completing detailed parenting assessments through observation, engagement and evidence gathering
  • \n
  • Supporting families involved in Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children processes
  • \n
  • Building trusting relationships while confidently challenging harmful behaviours where appropriate
  • \n
  • Providing practical parenting advice, mentoring and modelling positive care strategies
  • \n
  • Completing accurate reports for court proceedings, child protection conferences and statutory reviews
  • \n
  • Supervising family contact sessions where required
  • \n
  • Undertaking direct work with children, ensuring their wishes and feelings are heard
  • \n
  • Working collaboratively with Social Workers, schools, health professionals, police and partner agencies
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate case records and contributing to safeguarding decisions
  • \n
  • Delivering trauma-informed interventions that place children at the centre of every decision
  • \n
About You We're looking for someone who is resilient, compassionate and committed to improving outcomes for children and families.\n
\n
\n You'll ideally have:\n
\n
\n
    \n
  • A Level 3 qualification in Social Care, Childcare, Health or a related field (or significant relevant experience)
  • \n
  • Experience supporting children and families with complex needs
  • \n
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures
  • \n
  • Experience completing assessments, support plans and detailed reports
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • \n
  • Confidence working with families who may initially be reluctant to engage
  • \n
  • Experience working alongside multi-agency professionals
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • \n
  • A trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to practice
  • \n
  • A full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle
  • \n
