Job description
Senior Civil Design Engineer Location: UK - Hybrid Industry: HV Transmission & Distribution Scope of Work: An exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion, overseeing drawings, calculations, and specifications for a variety of civil structures and infrastructure.. Turner Lovell is currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join a rapidly expanding engineering design consultant and grid connection contractor. Our client is renowned for delivering exceptional solutions within the power, energy, and infrastructure sectors. As a Senior Civil Design Engineer you will: * Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK. * Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope. * Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints. * Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery. * Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural. * Guide and support junior members within the team. The ideal profile is someone who has: * Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. * At least 3 years of industry experience, ideally within power transmission, distribution, substations, or related infrastructure in the energy and renewables sectors. * Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover. * Familiar with AutoCAD and MS Office; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.
