Edinburgh Castle is one of Scotlands most popular visitor attractions and offers a variety of stunning locations in which to stage events and functions. Events business continues to grow and makes a valuable contribution to the overall income generated at the castle. As one of two Deputy Events Managers you will be a key member of the wider castle team reporting directly to the Events Manager.

Key Responsibilities of this role

  • Responsible for the management of all aspects of assigned confirmed evening events and some day events. Including the management of external suppliers working on-site client relationship communication and distributing the necessary information to the wider castle.
  • Conduct site visits for clients after they confirm a booking showcasing event spaces and explaining options available which may enhance their experience and increase income to the site recommended through upselling suppliers entertainment offerings whilst problem solving site logistics and restrictions.
  • Lead on the scheduling of appropriate staff for each event andsupervise the event team to ensure highest standard of service to clients.
  • Motivate the team to excel and deliver on task and responsibilities undertaken for each event and lead by example.
  • Support the Events Manager through the delivery of a wide range of events and commercial activities across the Edinburgh region.
  • Line Manage part-time Guest Experience Assistants. This involves training assigning events in alignment with their allocated hours and overseeing time management to ensure they deliver their responsibilities.
  • Assisting the delivery of corporate hospitality for major events such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Castle Concerts throughout July and August.
  • Be the first point of contact for the resolution of client and visitor complaints ensuring relevant procedures and processes are adhered to and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Be responsible for all onsite staff guests and suppliers during events. Responding to emergency situations out-with Castle opening times and leading on the resolution of any incidents such as fire alarms visitor ejections first aid and medical emergencies etc
  • Liaise with the Edinburgh Castle management team to ensure the visitor experience is maintained for daytime visitors and evening clients alike.
  • Maintain important internal relationships such as those with the Guiding Retail Admissions and Works teams to ensure seamless 5-star events for clients.
  • Be the point of contact between client and other staff on site and will need to show effective communication problem-solving skills.
  • Support the Events and Community Manager in the delivery of events and responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with internal castle teams to identify and implement improvements to facilities and processes that support the events and functions business.
