Package Description

You’ll be a valued Lead for Safeguarding within HCRG Care Group, with flexibility around your base location and the option of hybrid working. In return, you’ll enjoy a range of rewards and benefits, including:

  • A salary of £55,690 – £62,682 (Band 8a), with NHS Pension and full Agenda for Change terms and conditions
  • The flexibility to talk through working hours that fit around your life
  • Free tea and coffee at your base location, plus onsite parking
  • Membership of My Reward Hub, giving you discounts on everyday purchases like your weekly shop, along with cashback and voucher offers for you and the people you love
  • Access to your wages as you earn them, helping you cover life’s emergencies and avoid overdraft fees or high-interest borrowing
  • Online and face-to-face support for your mental and physical wellbeing – from healthy recipes and activity challenges to post-trauma support, and help with legal, debt, life-management and career questions, including counselling
  • eLearning, bespoke career pathways and continuing professional development through The Learning Enterprise, our learning and development team.
  • An open, just culture where you’re encouraged to share and act on ideas that help us deliver our purpose – backed by at least £100,000 of ring-fenced innovation funding every year
  • The pride of working for an organisation committed to the highest clinical and quality standards, with the majority of our rated services holding ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings from the Care Quality Commission

We change lives by transforming health and care and safeguarding is at the very heart of that promise.

As our Lead for Safeguarding, you’ll help make sure our Surrey and Luton services protect and support the adults, children and young people in our care. You’ll drive our organisation-wide safeguarding agenda, working across teams to keep the people we serve safe.

This is a home-based role with travel as required. You’ll report to the Director of Community Services and, while you won’t have any direct reports, your influence will be felt across every service. It’s a part-time position, and we’re happy to talk through working patterns that suit you.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Work within the managerial framework of our Surrey services (adult community services and special care dentistry) and Luton services (intermediate care and MSK services)
  • Develop programmes and pathways that help local teams meet their contractual obligations and improve health outcomes for adults, children and young people – and contribute to our wider organisational safeguarding policies, processes and procedures
  • Support and advise colleagues on their safeguarding responsibilities within service provision, through HCRG Care Group’s clinical governance processes
  • Provide safeguarding advice and assurance to the local Quality and Assurance meeting
  • Provide assurance to the National Safeguarding and Children in Care Sub-Committee
  • Contribute to the planning and strategic organisation of safeguarding services

The Ideal Candidate

You’re a registered nurse with at least five years’ post-registration experience in a health or social care environment. You can show strong leadership – including oversight of the quality, governance and safety of healthcare services – and a proven ability to influence and drive change and improvement alongside senior leaders.

Before starting the role, you’ll have completed specific post-registration safeguarding training in adults and/or children and young people (child protection), covering law, policy and practice at Level 2 or Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip). You’ll also bring at least three years’ experience practising in the field of safeguarding.

You’re confident with IT too, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

For any queries about the recruitment process of this role, please contact the hiring team via email at urvashi.bhardwaj@hcrgcaregroup.com or on 07884 659460.

About the Company

We change lives by transforming health and care.
Established in 2006, we are one of the UK's leading independent providers of community health and care services, working with health and care commissioners and communities to transform services with a focus on experience, efficiency, and improved outcomes. We deliver and transform adult and children community health services, primary care services including urgent care, sexual health, dermatology and MSK services as well as adult social care and wellbeing services. Across England, we support communities of many millions and directly help more than half a million people each year - guided by our simple values: we care, we think, we do.

We're committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from a broad, diverse range of people who want to join our team. We’re a Disability Confident Committed company, so we work to provide facilities, work environment adjustments and technical solutions to be as inclusive of everyone.

While it doesn’t happen often, sometimes a role is very popular, and we’ll need to close it earlier than the date we’ve shown here. If you’re keen to join our team, we’d love to hear from you so please apply as soon as you can.

As you’d expect, safeguarding and protecting the children, young people and vulnerable adults that we work with is of the utmost importance so we have policies and procedures in place to promote safeguarding and safer working practices and everyone who joins the team is subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks.

Finally, we need to let you know that the company you’ll work for is part of HCRG Care Group Holdings Limited and by applying for this job we’ll need to process and hold information about you. If you would like to know a little more about how we use your information, please see our website's privacy policy.
