File Opening & Compliance Administrator
Location: Kent
Salary: Circa £24,500 per annum
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
An established and reputable law firm is seeking a highly organised File Opening & Compliance Administrator to join its busy support team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in legal compliance to play a key role in supporting client onboarding, file management, and regulatory processes.
The Role
Working as part of the compliance team, you will be responsible for ensuring new client matters are opened efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements. You'll support the full lifecycle of client files, from onboarding and compliance checks through to file closure, archiving, and document management.
Key Responsibilities
- Open new client files and set up matter workflows.
- Carry out client identification and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks.
- Review compliance documentation and ensure records are accurate and complete.
- Send biometric verification requests and monitor outstanding documentation.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
- Prepare files for closure and coordinate archiving processes.
- Liaise with internal departments regarding outstanding matters.
- Manage the storage and retrieval of important legal documents, including Wills, Deeds, and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
- Coordinate file destruction in line with retention policies.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues on file opening and compliance procedures.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in legal administration, compliance, or file opening (preferred).
- Knowledge of AML and client due diligence processes, or a willingness to learn.
- Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
