Job description

Job Summary
Senior Radiographer Band 6 Vacancy - 8 Months Fixed Term Contract (ending 07/05/2027)

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, ambitious and motivated Rotational Senior Radiographer (Band 6) for Core Services. The post holder will be required to rotate through general x-ray, fluoroscopy, CT and theatres and they will participate in the delivery of an Agenda for change 24/7, 365 service.

This Position will be based at St. Bartholomew's Hospital which is in the heart of the City of London- St. Paul's.

Main duties of the job
We offer a full range of local and specialist services, which includes centres for the treatment of cancer, heart conditions, fertility, endocrinology and sexual health. The hospital includes the site of the new state-of-the-art Barts Heart Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Europe's largest specialised cardiovascular centre. The appropriate candidate will have good general radiographic experience, be resilient, flexible and able to demonstrate leadership and clinical supervision skills. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical, Radiographic and managerial teams.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalents
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of career-long commitment to CPD


Desirable

  • Student Clinical Assessors Course
  • College of Radiographers accredited IV cannulation course
  • Postgraduate study in a relevant area


Experience
Essential

  • Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care
  • Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality
  • Completion of preceptorship
  • Experience of on-call and out of hours roster


Desirable

  • Greater than 18 months post-graduation experience.
  • CT Radiography experience.
  • Previous experience as Band 6 radiographer
  • Experience of training staff and students
  • Demonstrates ongoing CPD.


Knowledge/Skills
Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
  • Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
  • Ability to cope with conflict and complaints at local level commensurate with Trust policies
  • Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
  • Ability to work using own initiative but also to know when to seek assistance and guidance
  • Basic computer and keyboard skills.
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
  • Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others
  • Able to work flexibly based on needs of service.

Essential

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective communication in a wide range of situations in writing, person or by telephone
  • Computer and keyboard skills.
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
