SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Secondary SEN School | Manchester City Centre | Full-Time | September 2026 Start| Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS3 student with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and specific learning disabilities within a specialist secondary SEN school in Manchester City Centre.

This rewarding role involves providing tailored one-to-one support to help the student access learning, develop social and communication skills, and achieve their individual learning and personal development targets. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team to create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS3 student with ASC and specific learning disabilities.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
  • Support the development of communication, social, and emotional skills.
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and participation in lessons.
  • Implement strategies outlined in the student's EHCP and support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on student development.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly ASC.
  • Understanding of autism-friendly approaches and personalised support strategies.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in education, care, support work, or youth work is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
