Job description

Job summary
Are you a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist who wishes to develop their clinical skills and experience? Do you strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs? Are you flexible and motivated? Do you work well in a team? Then we are the team for you!

We have one permanent Speech and Language Therapist post in our paediatric service. You will join our friendly and established team of both Therapists and Assistant Practitioners and work across a range of settings and specialties within Swansea Bay. This will include working across clinics and schools to support a variety of children's communication needs.

We are a welcoming and forward-thinking team working closely with our partners in schools, support services and Health. The post holder will also benefit from professional support and development opportunities to develop their NQP competencies from specialist SLT colleagues, Band 7 SLT leads, as well as multi-agency members. We offer regular team meetings and a wide range of CPD opportunities.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be passionate, hard-working and dynamic with an interest in service improvement. You will have excellent team working skills and be willing to work flexibly across sites and locations.

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner to assess, diagnose and manage a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.

You will work with a shared specialist caseload of children and young people across the footprint as well as working at the targeted and universal level to deliver training to parents/carers and staff. You will be facilitated to support student placements as we strongly value this. Working with Welsh medium pupils forms part of the role and so the ability to speak Welsh is desirable. There will be opportunities to gain skills organising and creating training, developing supervision skills and participating in total team development days and team meetings. You will also work with our senior therapists and wider team to ensure our service provides efficient, effective, patient centred care.

As one of the biggest healthcare groups in the UK we can offer a wealth of professional training and development opportunities in an innovative, forward-thinking organisation.

You might be a nurse or doctor, maybe you specialise in a health science/therapy or can offer skills in one of our support services - we have a job for you.

There are also apprenticeships, work placements and volunteering roles available.

We are an inclusive employer and welcome applications from everyone whatever their sex; religion or belief; race; age; sexual orientation; gender identity or, whether they are pregnant or have recently been on maternity leave, married or are in a civil partnership; or, whether they are disabled.

Our values - Caring For Each Other, Working Together and Always Improving, show that our commitment to equality is at the heart of everything we do.
