Work Based Learning (WBL) English & Maths Lecturer

Wiltshire College & University Centre – Salisbury Campus

Are you passionate about helping people develop the English and Maths skills they need to succeed in work and life? Do you enjoy working with apprentices and employers to support learners in achieving their full potential?

Join Wiltshire College & University Centre as a Work Based Learning (WBL) English & Maths Lecturer and play a vital role in supporting apprentices and work-based learners to achieve their Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications. You'll help learners overcome barriers, build confidence, and develop the essential literacy and numeracy skills that underpin successful careers.

Whether you're an experienced English and Maths lecturer, a Functional Skills specialist, or a professional looking to move into teaching, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact. You'll work closely with apprentices, employers, and curriculum teams, delivering flexible, engaging teaching that supports learners alongside their vocational studies.

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in Further Education (FE), apprenticeships, or work-based learning. However, if you have strong English and Maths knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping learners succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

This role supports apprentices and work-based learners across the South Wiltshire area, delivering Functional Skills English and Maths through a flexible and employer-responsive approach. Teaching may take place at employer premises, on college campuses, or online, and may involve working with learners on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Regular travel within the region is therefore an essential requirement of the role.

💷 Salary:
Unqualified Lecturer: £29,294 per year, pro rata
Qualified Lecturer: £31,885 – £40,814 per year, pro rata

🕰️ Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

✔️ Outstanding Benefits

  • Strong subject knowledge across English and Maths with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively
  • Experience teaching or supporting Functional Skills and/or GCSE English and Maths, or experience working with learners in education, training, or the workplace
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
