Role Overview
As a Senior Consultant (Carbon Accounting) you will own and deliver high-quality carbon and Net Zero work and support in delivery of wider Sustainability services across the team. Working with a range of customers across sectors you will take complex projects from planning through to outputs that customers trust and act on. You will bring strong technical knowledge across carbon footprinting Net Zero pathways and environmental reporting and apply it with the judgement to solve technical challenges and get delivery right first time. You will prepare carbon footprints and reporting to a standard that stands up to external assurance.
Alongside delivery you will support and mentor junior colleagues help keep our technical standards high and build the kind of customer relationships that keep customers with us and open up new ways to help them. This is a role for someone who wants to deepen their technical expertise while stepping up into leadership and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities
Own and deliver carbon accounting projects across scopes 1 2 and 3 in line with the GHG Protocol ensuring work lands on time in full and within budget.
Map and present customers pathways to Net Zero including Science-based Targets and turn data into a clear story that inspires action.
Prepare complex carbon footprints and reporting to an assurance-ready standard keeping data evidence assumptions and methodologies clear and traceable.
Quality assure fellow consultants work to ensure consistent high quality assurance-ready outputs.
Deliver complementary sustainability services such as ESOS and SECR life cycle analyses (LCA) supply chain assessment and climate-related risk and opportunity assessments.
Support continuous improvement of carbon accounting methodologies and service design in line with recognised standards and best practice
Engage with customer supply chains to extend the reach and impact of our work.
Manage customer projects as Project Lead ensuring customers needs are met the project team are set up for successful delivery work is completed to a good technical standard and identifying risks and challenges early and helping the team mitigate them.
Lead customer workshops and present to stakeholders at all levels with confidence and clarity.
Support customers to achieve and maintain relevant certification such as ISO 14064 ISO 14068 and Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) verification.
Mentor and support junior team members through peer review feedback and technical guidance and contribute to keeping our technical quality high.
Build strong customer relationships as a trusted advisor helping customers progress with confidence and supporting retention.
Spot opportunities to deepen our impact with existing customers contribute to account plans and support our growth.
Research new technologies and methods and use approved AI tools to improve how we deliver contributing to service development and continuous improvement.

Requirements
Skills and Experience
Required
Degree or equivalent experience in a carbon environmental or sustainability-related field.
Proven experience delivering carbon footprinting and reporting across scopes 1 2 and 3 with strong working knowledge of the GHG Protocol relevant ISO and SBTi standards.
Strong data interpretation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively using data.
High level of attention to detail ensuring accuracy consistency and completeness across all deliverables.
Excellent verbal and written communication including confident presentation and workshop delivery.
Strong organisational skills able to manage multiple customers and priorities and deliver quality work on time.
Desirable
Experience developing Net Zero strategy and carbon reduction pathways for customers.
Experience with life cycle analyses supply chain engagement or climate risk and opportunity assessments.
Familiarity with carbon assurance or verification standards such as ISO 14064 and an interest in developing into an assurance role.
Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
Experience delivering ESOS or other energy reporting.
Curiosity about AI and automation and a willingness to use approved tools to work smarter.
