Job descriptionWe are looking for an experienced Yard Manager to join a small team on a full-time, permanent basis in Stratford-upon-Avon. Offering a salary of up to £42,000 including bonus, this is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading supplier to the construction, energy, and utilities sectors. This is a hands-on role, overseeing all yard operations while directly managing a small team of two, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high operational standards at all times. Key accountabilities for the Yard Manager: * Oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard, ensuring efficiency and organisation at all times * Operate and drive telehandlers (valid licence required) * Load and unload articulated vehicles safely and efficiently * Sort, inspect, and manually clean hire and returned products * Manage yard operations and stock, ensuring all procedures and company standards are consistently met * Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational records and documentation * Supervise and support Yard Operatives, including performance management, reviews, and holiday approvals in line with company policy * Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and secure working environment * Conduct regular stock checks and ensure inventory accuracy * Arrange servicing, maintenance, and repairs for telehandlers and yard equipment * Manage site requirements including skip changes and sourcing quotes for consumables and minor repairs * Monitor fuel usage and provide accurate data for replenishment * Support senior leadership with the ongoing development and improvement of yard operations * Provide regular updates to senior management on performance, staffing, stock levels, and operational matters * Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role Key Skills Required for the Yard Manager: * Proven experience operating telehandlers within a commercial yard or construction environment * Experience in supervising or managing operational teams, ideally within a similar yard-based or industrial setting * Good understanding of HR processes and people management responsibilities * Experience handling construction materials or hire-based products * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * Experience of managing Health & Safety onsite * IT literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel skills * Strong leadership ability, with the confidence to motivate and manage a team effectively * Full UK driving licence * Reliable and proactive, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions What's in it for you? * Starting salary of £42,000 with bonus * Mon to Fri 7.30 am to 4.30 pm or 8.00 am to 5.00 pm * 25 days holiday + bank holidays * Annual bonus (company/performance related * Working as part of a supportive team * Training and development opportunities JBRP1_UKTJ
