Job description

BCHA are a charitable housing association supporting individuals and families across the South West and South of England.

We are a major provider of a diverse range of housing, support and learning services for socially excluded people.

We have a continuing mission to meet housing need and end homelessness. We aim to achieve this through the building and provision of affordable and secure homes, and by supporting individuals to take control and lead independent, fulfilled lives.

Whether we are developing sites or supporting people with housing or learning, we believe in equality, the importance of every individual and the right to be valued and treated with dignity and respect. Our doors are open to everyone.

We manage over 1300 properties and support thousands of individuals each year.

At BCHA we're passionate about creating opportunities, improving homes and building stronger communities. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Options Appraisal Asset Surveyor to join our Asset Management team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our housing portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity for a property professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with strategic thinking, project management and stakeholder engagement. You'll lead property option appraisals, identify opportunities to maximise the value of our assets, and deliver projects that create high-quality homes for our customers.

About the Role

As Project Surveyor

  • Manage projects to convert underutilised spaces into quality, lettable accommodation.
  • Prepare and present business cases and technical reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, contractors and external stakeholders.
  • Commission and manage specialist surveys and technical reports where required.
  • Develop technical specifications, oversee procurement processes and manage construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Support asset data management, stock condition information and strategic investment planning.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with organisational objectives and governance requirements.
  • Lead property option appraisals to determine the most effective long-term use of our housing assets.

At BCHA, you'll become part of an organisation committed to improving lives through high-quality housing and support services. We value innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement, giving our people the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.

We offer:

  • Meaningful and rewarding work that improves communities.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • The chance to influence strategic investment decisions across a diverse property portfolio.

BCHA Safer Recruitment: Safeguarding children and adults is our first priority and we will ensure we follow safer recruitment procedures.

As an employer, we will do everything possible to prevent unsuitable people obtaining employment with BCHA. Our overall aim is to ‘deter unsuitable applicants from applying for roles with children and adults, and we will ensure that all candidates are treated fairly, consistently and in compliance with current legislation.

BCHA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of people, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
