About the role
We are looking for an experienced MIG Welder to join a busy engineering team producing high quality fabricated and welded components. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled MIG Welder who takes pride in producing accurate work to a high standard while working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
The successful MIG Welder will be responsible for welding a variety of mild steel components from engineering drawings and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. This MIG Welder position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent fabrication skills and previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment. As a MIG Welder, you will work as part of an experienced team while contributing to the successful delivery of customer projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced MIG Welder looking to develop their career with a stable and growing engineering business.
Key responsibilities
• Carry out high quality MIG welding on a range of engineering components
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Prepare materials prior to welding including measuring, cutting and fitting where required
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards
• Operate welding equipment and associated workshop machinery safely
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Work to production schedules while maintaining excellent attention to detail
• Report any quality or production issues promptly
• Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
• Support colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement within the workshop
Skills and experience required
Essential
• Previous experience working as a MIG Welder within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong MIG welding skills with the ability to produce high quality welds
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Good understanding of health and safety within a workshop environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking with a positive attitude
Desirable
• Fabrication experience
• Experience working with a variety of steel sections and thicknesses
• Relevant welding qualifications or certifications
• Overhead crane or forklift experience
