Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit a Materials Planner. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation where you'll play a key role in ensuring materials are available to support production, maintaining supplier performance, and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain. Working closely with Planning, Production and Sales teams, you'll be responsible for balancing inventory levels with business demand, developing supplier relationships, and ensuring the efficient procurement of raw materials and services. What you'll be doing Plan and procure raw materials and services to support production and customer demand. Monitor inventory levels, ensuring continuity of supply while maintaining optimum stock levels. Work alongside Sales, Planning and Manufacturing teams to forecast material requirements and respond to changing demand. Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with internal procurement procedures. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, lead times and service levels where appropriate. Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality and delivery. Maintain accurate procurement, supplier and material master data within the ERP system. Support stock control activities, including cycle counts and annual stock takes. Analyse purchasing data and produce reports to support operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate across the business to support customer quotations, new product introductions and wider business objectives. What you'll need Previous experience within a Materials Planning, Purchasing or Procurement role. Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret data. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability. The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
