Protocol Education is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in a state-of-the-art special needs school in Croydon, with positions available to start from September 2026.
This inclusive school supports pupils across Early Years, Primary and Secondary education and provides ongoing training throughout the placement. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children of different ages and are passionate about making a positive impact on pupils’ learning, communication and development.
No previous school or special needs experience is required. The school is primarily looking for candidates who can demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, patience and a genuine desire to support children and young people.
The role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work in small classes of approximately 6–8 pupils, supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including:
- Autism
- Speech, language and communication difficulties
- Learning difficulties
- Complex needs
You will support pupils with an individualised curriculum designed around their specific learning and developmental needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils with tailored numeracy and literacy activities
- Developing speech, language and communication skills
- Teaching vocabulary and comprehension using visual resources
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis
- Encouraging social interaction and emotional development
- Assisting with creative and therapeutic activities, including art, music, swimming, cooking, K9 therapy and sensory play
