Job description
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Dietitian to join the RNOH team to independently manage a small Critical Care Case load and champion excellence in nutrition across the Trust.

The Post holder will provide specialist care and advice for post-surgical and critical in-patients with a variety of complex conditions and act as an advisory role to the medical and nursing management of these patients. The successful applicant will need to be experienced in all aspects of critical care nutrition, able to work both autonomously and closely within the Nutrition and Dietetics team and collaboratively with other departments. They should have a good understanding of research, audit and quality improvement and have a desire to lead and innovate to improve standards of nutrition care.

The Post holder will work as part of a dynamic Critical Care team responsible for all types of nutrition support for adult patients undergoing complex surgeries. This post provides an opportunity for a diverse and interesting caseload and potential for paediatric and other areas of dietetics.

Qualifications
Essential
  • BSc Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
  • Current HPC registration
  • Evidence of continuing Professional Development

Desirable
  • Post Graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. PENG course Further Education Training Certificate, Diploma or equivalent

Experience
Essential
  • 3 years Post Graduate Clinical Dietetic Experience
  • 1 year Clinical Experience in High-dependency Nutrition
  • Experience of Training Dietetic Students/other HCP's
  • Effective multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience of Conducting Audit and/or Research

Desirable
  • Membership of Special interest group involved with Critical Care

Knowledge
Essential
  • Up to date knowledge of current issues relating to specialist area of dietetics
  • Up to date knowledge of critical care specific feeding practices, protocols and devices
  • Good understanding of the use of Nutrition screening Tools

Desirable
  • knowledge of paediatric nutrition support in a hospital setting

Skills
Essential
  • Effective interpersonal skills (including the ability to persuade, negotiate and influence)
  • Proven organisation skills
