Job description

Are you a motivated Psychologist looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful difference within specialist neurological services while developing your skills in a supportive multidisciplinary environment? Join Elysium Healthcare as a Registered Psychologist in this unique split-site role, working across The Dean Neurological Centre and Stanley House to support people with complex neurological, cognitive and behavioural needs on their rehabilitation journey.

This is a part time role: 15 hours at The Dean/ 7.5 hours Stanley house total- 22.5Hours

Working closely with the multidisciplinary teams across both services, you will support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychological care, ensuring service users receive interventions that are tailored to their individual needs and recovery goals. You will play a key role in helping service users engage fully in their care pathways, contributing to positive outcomes and enhanced quality of life.

In this rewarding role, you will provide psychological assessments, formulations and interventions, working collaboratively with clinical colleagues to ensure care is person-centred, effective and informed by best practice. You will support multidisciplinary team working by sharing psychological knowledge, contributing to treatment planning and delivering training and guidance to colleagues to help embed psychologically informed approaches throughout the services.

You will also contribute to the ongoing development of both services by supporting new initiatives, innovative ways of working and service improvement projects. Working alongside internal teams and external agencies, you will help strengthen treatment pathways and ensure continuity of care for service users throughout their rehabilitation and recovery.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To provide psychological assessments of service users based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service user’s care.
  • To formulate plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s neuropsychological and/or mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
  • To implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • To develop and manage groupwork programmes and innovative therapeutic approaches.
  • To ensure that appropriate outcome measures are in place.
  • To ensure that Psychology practices in the specified area of service maintains the highest standards of professional practice and ethics, complying with clinical governance standards at all times.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • A BPS accredited and HCPC approved Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
  • Chartered Member of the BPS.
  • Enrolled on the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists or interest in working towards this, with support.
  • Ability to demonstrate possession of clinical skills applicable to the assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention with people who have acquired brain injury/progressive neurological conditions, underpinned by evidence-based practice, including use of means to objectively demonstrate outcomes.
  • Evidence of the ability to work effectively independently, to attain set goals within a given period, and to effectively utilise supervision.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written), evidence of presenting to others, including teaching/training.
  • Track record of being an effective team player, evidence of leadership ability.
