Job description

Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Applied Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Hampshire. As an autonomous practitioner, you will provide a high-quality, specialist psychology service to children and young people experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties, working collaboratively with their families and carers. You will deliver evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention, tailoring care to meet individual needs and goals. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in promoting psychologically informed practice through consultation, formulation, supervision and training. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the service by participating in clinical governance activities, supporting the design and delivery of care pathways, and providing supervision to assistant, trainee and junior psychologists, as well as other members of the team. The role offers opportunities to contribute to audit, service evaluation, research and quality improvement initiatives, helping to shape and enhance the psychological services we provide. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and skilled psychologist who is passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and making a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide quality driven assessments, psychological formulations and interventions (individual and group) to young people and their families or carers experiencing a wide range of complex and severe mental health problems.
  • To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.
  • To use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.
  • Be part of the MDT providing consultation, supervision, formulation and developing psychological practice within the MDT.
  • Be part of the leadership team supporting the development of innovative and effective ways of working and participating in systematic clinical governance.
  • Form part of the Neurodevelopmental Team by contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments and team discussions.
  • To care co-ordinate cases as appropriate.
