\nUnqualified Teacher - Alternative Provision Job Purpose\n

Monarch Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient Unqualified Teacher to work within Alternative Provision settings, supporting pupils who may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, additional learning needs, or barriers to mainstream education.

\n

The successful candidate will support the delivery of engaging learning experiences, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to achieve positive educational outcomes. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, care, or support work who are looking to build a career within teaching.

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and educational activities to individuals and small groups.
  • \n
  • Support pupils to engage positively with learning and achieve their personal targets.
  • \n
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities and additional needs.
  • \n
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing.
  • \n
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • \n
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, and other additional educational needs.
  • \n
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, attendance, and engagement.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • \n
  • Promote inclusion, equality, and positive learning behaviours.
  • \n
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.
  • \n
  • Act as a positive role model, supporting pupils' personal and social development.
  • \n
  • Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

Person Specification Essential Criteria\n
    \n
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational, coaching, youth work, care, mentoring, or support-based role.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable and disengaged learners.
  • \n
  • Good behaviour management skills.
  • \n
  • Resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
  • \n
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • \n
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • \n
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • \n
Desirable Criteria\n
    \n
  • Experience working within Alternative Provision, PRU, SEMH, or specialist SEN settings.
  • \n
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and restorative practice approaches.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs.
  • \n
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
  • \n
