Description

We’re looking for a compassionate, organised, and proactive Welfare Assistant to join our Student Services team on a fixed-term basis for the 2026/2027 academic year. In this rewarding role, you’ll help students access the welfare advice and support they need to thrive during their studies.

Working alongside our Welfare Team and Assistant Principal of Student Services, you’ll provide guidance on welfare, housing, immigration, finance, and broader student support. Your work will help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive college environment where every student can succeed.

Please note that candidates will not be shortlisted until mid August 2026 due to the summer holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and accessible welfare information, support, and guidance to students
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student welfare records
  • Assist with welfare referrals and liaise with internal departments and external support agencies
  • Support student wellbeing initiatives, inductions, tutorial sessions, and enrichment activities
  • Help develop and promote welfare resources and publicity materials
  • Contribute to projects including Student Union activities, Women’s Group, and support for Looked After Children
  • Assist with college events such as Open Days, Enrolment, and Bus Pass distribution
  • Keep up to date with welfare, safeguarding, immigration, and housing legislation to support students effectively

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Level 2 Business Administration qualification (or equivalent)
  • Good GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • Some relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of benefits, immigration, and safeguarding regulations
