Job description
Senior Practitioner Psychologist

Job summary
Are you seeking to grow your career in CAMHS? We are delighted to offer a Band 8a post to a dynamic Psychologist with a passion for working with children and families, or can offer a Band 7 to 8a development post for the right candidate.

This is a part time, 3 day, post based in the Fareham & Gosport CAMHS team. We are a warm and lively multi-disciplinary team who are united in the commitment to provide the highest quality care to the children, young people and families using our service.

HIOWH CAMHS is currently undergoing an exciting transformation so that we are better able to meet the mental health needs of our communities going forward, and you will be an active part of this process. An interest or expertise in neurodevelopmental presentations would be an asset but is not essential. You will have scope to develop your own areas of interest either in relation to specific presentations or therapy models.

You will receive regular supervision from a Principal Practitioner Psychologist, have opportunities to link in with other child psychologists and be part of the county wide psychology team, making innovative contributions to ongoing service improvement and compassionate care. There are many opportunities to access further training and we have an excellent record in developing our workforce.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide quality driven assessments, psychological formulations and interventions to children and young people experiencing a wide range of complex and severe mental health problems. Delivering a variety of interventions (individual and group) to families and young people in line with their needs and goals.
  • To be part of the Neurodevelopmental Team by contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments (primarily ADHD) and team discussions.
  • Working together with other agencies and services to develop and implement interventions and care plans and ensure successful transitions between services.
  • To be an integral part in developing and delivering clinical care pathways.
  • Form part of the MDT providing consultation and supervision and developing psychological knowledge within the MDT.
  • Being part of the leadership team at Fareham and Gosport CAMHS supporting the development of innovative and effective ways of working and participating in systematic clinical governance.
  • Supervising and supporting the development of other psychologists and psychological therapists in the team, including trainee clinical psychologists on placement from the University of Southampton.
  • To utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

About us
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides joined-up mental and physical healthcare for around two million people across our communities. With over 13,000 staff working in the community and local hospitals, we deliver care at every stage of life, helping people live their best and healthiest lives.

Our mental health services include community-based support and early intervention in psychosis (EIP) for both adults and young people, alongside a network of specialist inpatient wards covering forensic, learning disability, eating disorder and older person's care.

We deliver extensive physical health services too, from urgent community response teams helping frail and older patients remain safely at home, to hospitals at home teams providing acute-level care in familiar surroundings. Our neurological services offer rehabilitation and treatment for conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Head Injury, Cerebral Palsy and Stroke. Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

Everything we do is underpinned by our CARE values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence
