Job description

Make a Difference Where It Matters Most

Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

Warwickshire County Council is looking for a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our highly regarded Ethnic Minorities and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS). This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities helping them thrive both in education and beyond.

If you believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As part of our specialist EMTAS team, you will work alongside schools, families, and other professionals to provide tailored support to children and young people who may face additional challenges in their education.

You'll play a key role in:

  • Supporting vulnerable learners to improve engagement, attendance and achievement.
  • Building positive relationships with children, families, schools and community partners.
  • Developing creative approaches to engage learners who may be at risk of disengaging from education.
  • Supporting pupils from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities and/or children who are Electively Home Educated.
  • Sharing best practice and contributing to the wider support network around each child.

No two days are the same. This is an opportunity to work in a varied, meaningful role where your skills can genuinely change lives.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate, resilient and committed to inclusive education.

You'll ideally have:

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or above.
  • Recent experience supporting children and young people within an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges and barriers some vulnerable learners face.
  • Experience building positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
  • The ability to work independently and flexibly across different environments.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • An understanding of the diverse educational and multicultural factors shaping schools and communities.

Experience working with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, vulnerable learners, or Electively Home Educated children would be particularly valuable, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a genuine commitment to inclusive practice.
