Job description

Complex Needs Family Practitioner (Gambling Treatment Team)

Location: West Midlands
Working Hours: 37 hours (full-time)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £27,751 – £29,942

Make a real difference in your community.

Are you passionate about supporting families to overcome the impact of gambling-related harm? Do you believe that lasting recovery is strengthened when families, carers and loved ones receive the support they need alongside the individual?

We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Family Complex Needs Practitioner to join our Gambling Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals, families and affected others, delivering holistic, trauma-informed support that reduces harm, strengthens relationships and promotes long-term wellbeing.

About the Role

As a Family Complex Needs Practitioner, you will provide specialist support to families, partners, carers and significant others who are affected by gambling-related harm. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver person-centred interventions that recognise the wider impact gambling can have on family relationships, emotional wellbeing, financial stability and day-to-day life.

You'll manage your own caseload, working closely with individuals and their support networks to identify strengths, address complex needs and develop tailored support plans. Working alongside statutory, voluntary and community partners, you'll help families access the right services at the right time while promoting resilience, recovery and healthier relationships.

This is a rewarding outreach-based role where you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to individuals, families and communities by supporting recovery that extends beyond the individual.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a caseload of families, carers and affected others, delivering holistic assessments, personalised support plans and evidence-based interventions.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with individuals and families, helping them develop resilience, improve communication and strengthen support networks.

  • Deliver person-centred interventions using approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), family-based interventions and Social Network approaches.

  • Work collaboratively with health, social care, education, housing and voluntary sector partners to coordinate effective, joined-up support.

  • Identify, assess and manage risk, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and participating in multi-agency meetings where required.

  • Support families to access wider services, including mental health, financial wellbeing, relationship support, domestic abuse, housing and community resources.

  • Maintain accurate case records, outcome data and reports, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, safeguarding standards and data protection requirements.

To Succeed in This Role, You'll Need

  • Experience working with families, carers, children or adults within gambling support, substance misuse, mental health, family services or another health and social care setting.

  • Experience managing complex caseloads and delivering person-centred, strengths-based interventions.

  • Knowledge of family-focused practice, safeguarding, trauma-informed approaches and recovery-focused support.

  • Experience delivering or an understanding of evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) or family interventions.

  • Strong communication, engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work confidently with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Good organisational and IT skills, with experience maintaining accurate records and outcome data.

  • A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.

Join us and help families affected by gambling-related harm rebuild confidence, strengthen relationships and create healthier, more positive futures together.
