Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead our team of volunteers across the South Wales area. As the Volunteer Manager you will:

  • Lead on promoting and developing volunteering within our service across South Wales.
  • Leading on the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
  • Provide line management for a team of volunteers ensuring high quality support to the victims of crime
  • Ensure compliance with all Victim Support standards relating to volunteering.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with relevant external agencies

The role is home based and will include regular travel around the South Wales area.

About the role

As a Volunteer Manager, you will recruit, inspire, and support a team of dedicated volunteers, empowering them to deliver high-quality services and compassionate support to victims when they need it most, making a real different to the lives of people affected by crime.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, in order to maximise positive outcomes for service users.

You will:

    • carry out recruitment activities to attract potential volunteers
    • develop and manage a cohort of volunteers, including service delivery, community engagement and fundraising support
    • oversee new volunteer accreditation, carrying out regular supervisions and annual reviews
    • promote effective volunteer communications to ensure good working relationships across the volunteer cohorts by, for example, volunteer meetings, newsletters, etc.
    • ensure volunteers work within existing safeguarding policies and procedures, data protection and information security, confidentiality policies, lone worker policies and other relevant policies
    • develop and maintain effective working relationships through good communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
    • promote, facilitate and participate in regular team meetings, sharing local issues, feedback and learning with other colleagues
    • comply and keep up to date with VS Data Protection Policy, GDPR data protection legislation, confidentiality and organisational policies and procedures, as well as all legislation connected to your work.
