Complex Needs Practitioner – Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin
(Gambling Treatment Team)

Location: Community-based across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin (with outreach working)
Working Hours: 37 hours (full-time)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £27,751 – £29,942

Make a real difference in your community.

Are you passionate about supporting people with complex needs to make positive, lasting changes in their lives? Do you believe in delivering compassionate, person-centred support that empowers individuals to achieve their recovery goals?

We're looking for motivated and empathetic Complex Needs Practitioners to join our Gambling Service, delivering support across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals experiencing gambling-related harm, providing holistic, trauma-informed support that helps reduce risk, improve wellbeing and build resilience.

About the Role

As a Complex Needs Practitioner, you'll provide intensive, person-centred support to individuals experiencing gambling-related harm, many of whom will have multiple and complex needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll manage your own caseload while coordinating support across a range of partner agencies to ensure people receive the right help at the right time.

You'll work closely with individuals, families and wider support networks to develop personalised recovery plans, deliver evidence-based interventions and support people to access services that improve their health, wellbeing and independence.

This is a rewarding outreach-based role where you'll make a genuine difference every day while working collaboratively with health, social care and community partners across the local area.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a complex caseload, delivering comprehensive assessments, personalised recovery plans and evidence-based interventions.

  • Build trusting relationships with individuals and families, empowering people to reduce gambling-related harm and achieve their goals.

  • Deliver person-centred interventions using approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Social Network interventions.

  • Work collaboratively with statutory, voluntary and community organisations to coordinate holistic support.

  • Identify, assess and manage risk, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

  • Support people to access wider health, housing, employment, financial and wellbeing services.

  • Maintain accurate case records and outcome data in line with organisational policies and contractual requirements.

To Succeed in This Role, You'll Need

  • Experience working within gambling support, substance misuse, mental health or another health and social care setting.

  • Experience supporting people with complex needs and managing a varied caseload.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions including CBT, MI and recovery-focused practice.

  • A good understanding of safeguarding, risk management and partnership working.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong organisational and IT skills.

  • A flexible and proactive approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.
