Assistant Head of Residential Conveyancing
Banbury | Full-Time | 5+ Years' PQE | Up to £65,000
The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Residential Property Solicitor or Conveyancer ready to step into a leadership role without losing the fee-earning side of the job?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established residential property team in Banbury, supporting the Head of Department with the day-to-day running, development and performance of the team, while continuing to manage your own caseload.
This would suit a senior conveyancer who enjoys mentoring others, getting involved in business development and taking more responsibility within a department.
The Role
You'll have a varied role combining team management, technical support and fee earning, including:
- Supporting the Head of Department with day-to-day team management.
- Supporting junior colleagues with complex matters and technical queries.
- Conducting performance and file reviews.
- Helping with training, development plans and mentoring.
- Managing your own busy residential caseload.
- Handling sales, purchases, transfers of equity, shared ownership and leasehold matters.
- Supporting departmental business development and networking activities.
- Working towards agreed targets and KPIs.
- Assisting with complaints and risk management where required.
- Ensuring compliance with AML, CQS and Lexcel requirements.
- Representing the department at meetings when required.
- Leading the team in the absence of the Head of Department.
About You
We're looking for a senior residential conveyancer with:
- 5+ years' PQE or equivalent experience as a Solicitor, CILEX or CLC.
- Strong experience across a broad residential conveyancing caseload.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or developing junior team members.
- Strong technical knowledge of residential conveyancing and CQS requirements.
- Excellent client care and communication skills.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of KPIs.
- Confidence contributing to business development and networking.
- Strong organisation and the ability to work independently.
- Good knowledge of AML, SRA requirements and data protection.
- Experience with case management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
