Job description

Do you put customer safety and happiness at the heart of what you do and want to make a real impact?

As a Housing Compliance Officer, you'll be a visible presence in our neighbourhoods, building relationships with customers while helping to keep homes safe and compliant. You'll gain hands-on experience in key areas such as fire safety, Legionella management and customer safety, learning from experienced colleagues and partners as you develop specialist knowledge and skills. If you're eager to learn, grow and make a difference, this is a fantastic opportunity to start or develop your career in housing compliance.

THIS IS A MATERNITY COVER, FIXED TERM ROLE UNTIL END OF FEB 2027

As a Housing compliance Officer a typical day might include:

  • Delivering a high-quality service that ensures the estates are kept clean, tidy and free from hazards, helping customers to enjoy their home and neighbourhood responsibly; by performing and co-ordinating a full range of estate services and building checks to ensure that our neighbourhoods are safe and pleasant places where people want to live.
  • Record and undertake regular structured audits to monitor communal blocks and neighbourhoods; ensuring that any action required is completed in required timescales.
  • Time controlled audit and recording of the condition of communal buildings and related facilities, carrying out checks on the safety and security as per procedures, including the testing of fire prevention, fire evacuations and testing for Legionella.
  • Monitoring contractor performance, ensuring detailed records are maintained and carrying out relevant inspections to ensure high quality work on behalf of Acis. Raising and agreeing resolution of any contractor non performance for the residents and on behalf of Acis, in the first instance.
  • Identifying, planning and actioning improvements to the estate service we provide
  • Planning and ensuring work for both internal and external communal clearance teams are kept to timescales and completed to a safe and satisfactory manner standard.
  • Proactively working and negotiating with our stakeholders and partners to optimise the best outcomes for our customers and adding value for money
  • Collating proof, putting into a court format to enforce tenancy breaches, where there is evidence of a breach of the ‘by laws’ for tipping on our land
  • You will collate and record meter readings to ensure value for money; identifying and dealing with any anomalies
  • Being out and about in our neighbourhoods, talking to customers, solving problems – you will be our eyes and ears in the areas where we work

Some of the experience/skills we need to consider you:

  • You work closely with colleagues, connecting across our different teams, never working in silos and always sharing good practice.
  • You own your work, supporting others to do the same. When you find problems, you provide solutions, encouraging new ways of working and an agile mindset. You don’t play the blame game.
  • You will need to be self-motivated with an ability to set and manage your day-to-day priorities and deadlines.
  • You will have managed multiple projects at the same time
  • You will have experience of cross team and stakeholder working
  • You have recent hands-on experience of being part of a wide-ranging change process, happy to try new things.
  • You’ll be adept at change, having got hands on experience living and breathing new ways of working and knowing how to bring your colleagues along for the experience.
  • Designing signage and general advice letters
  • Good overall general multi skilled experience, such as building maintenance, carrying out minor repairs, decoration and general gardening duties
  • Ability to search for value for money, either by sourcing labour and/or materials
  • Happy to roll up your sleeves and help.
