Go back Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner The closing date is 09 August 2026 An exciting opportunity has arisen within theTier 2 getting help service for a Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner. The post is a time limited post to cover adoption/ maternity leave. We are a growing early intervention service that offers psychological intervention for low to moderate mental health presentations in children and young people aged 0-18. As a service we are committed to ongoing action to embrace diversity and working to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all staff and patients. Main duties of the job To provide high quality, short term, evidence-based intervention to children and young people presentencing with low to moderate mental health presentations. The role will involve * delivering brief psychological interventions lasting 4-10 sessions * To meet agreed clinical activity targets * To liaise with other professionals as appropriate * To undertake regular clinical supervision to ensure professional development and safe practises You will need excellent communication skills and will need to be comfortable working both alone and as part of the wider team. The job will involve working in a range of environments such as schools, community venues and from the service base. Person Specification Education and Qualification * Qualification from a BPS accredited CWP Programme * CWP registration with BPS or BABCP * Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy. * Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree. Knowledge and Experience * Experience of working with children and young people with mental health/learning disability difficulties and families. * Minimum of six months supervised practice in direct clinical care, assessment and low intensity psychological interventions, and working within a stepped care framework. * Able to write clear reports and letters. * Knowledge of common mental health/learning disability problems. * Knowledge of low intensity, evidence- based interventions. * Knowledge of the issues surrounding work, meaningful activity, social inclusion, and the impact it can have on mental health * Experience of working with people with who have experienced severe and enduring mental health problems. * Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes * Experience of facilitating psycho-education groups * Ability to manage own caseload and time * An understanding of complex mental health difficulties. Skills and Competencies * Ability to conduct thorough assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans based on low-intensity interventions. * Ability to assess risk and develop appropriate risk management plans. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills * Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients * Skills in the provision of psycho-educational groups Personal Charcteristics * Ability to build and maintain effective therapeutic relationships * Empathic, accepting and compassionate with good listening skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
